The Garden We Share

This picture book by Zoe Tucker and Julianna Swaney made me think about my own Grammy and about all grandmothers. I thought about how those memories shaped me.

Kids will find comfort in this thoughtful approach to loss and memory of those who have passed on.

Zoe’s story is subtle, thoughtful, and kind. She shows us that simple moments can become those snapshot memories we keep forever. Julianna’s quiet, rendered style and warm palette made the story feel like a hug.

Yes, I cried at the end. It was the sort of cry you do as you hold the closed book to your chest.
